Framed Photograph of Civilian Conservation Camp

Photograph labeled 1155th Co. CCC, Warwick S.F. Camp No. 11048, Orange, Mass.
Explanatory card reads: This camp was located on the left just beyond the bridge on White Road. Built sometime in the middle of the 1930s the CCC camps were designed to provide employment to the thousands of young men unemployed due to the depression years. Warwick has many back roads and fire holes that were constructed by the men from these camps. The camps were no longer necessary after World War Two began so they were discontinued. There are some who remember that the camp was used for a short time during the war as a military police camp. After the war the camps were sold and the buildings dismantled.
