Patchwork cloth

Hand worked patchwork cloth, 36"x34". Handwritten label on back says: "Patchwork by Sophia Holt (Mrs.
Aaron H. Holt) B1829-D1884. Lived in Jonathan Blake House. Donated by Bessie Shepardson Thoren, Great
Grandaughter". Patchwork is primarily silk material; center motif shows a printed fabric with American and Cuban flags.

Embroidered 19th Century sampler

Linen sampler, 17 1/2" x 16 1/2", embroidered in silk polychrome on single ply hand woven linen. Sampler illustrates family record of Calvin Allen and Abigail Richards, married 1801. Two embroidered areas topped with embroidered urns and birds holding leaf branches. Within the areas are embroidered the names and dates , from 1802 to 1822 of the births (on the left side area) and deaths (on the right side area) of the children of Calvin and Abigail. The left side of the sampler is embroidered with a willow tree arching over the top ; the right side is embroidered with a field? or water?

Large braided floor rug

Descriptive card reads: " This braided rug was given by Lorraine Freitag, former president of our Society in the 1980's. It was made by a woman in Athol about 40 years ago, with material from the suit coats of all Athol doctors, for the past 50 to 75 years."

Patchwork Quilt

Large colorful patchwork bicentennial quilt created by the 4th, 5th and 6th graders at Warwick Center School hangs on the west wall of room 1A
A newsclip by Rotha Nordstedt tells about the children creating and donating it to the Historical Society in 1976 - this is attached to the quilt.
Jan Norris and Anne Rogers supervised the project. A scroll was read and presented, which hangs on the west wall (see more details under scroll)
