Woman's silk coat
Silk coat, machine stitched french seams with hand finishing. Hand sewn decorative braid around cuffs, shoulder seams, and neckline. Double breasted front with eight mother of pearl buttons.

Found in attic of Clara Shepardson. Her great grandfather, David Martin Shepardson (1832-1907) and possibly her grandfather, George Shepardson (1871-1960) made boots/shoes along with market gardening. These were most likely sold to boot factory/shop in downtown Warwick. At one time 40 men were making 20,000 pair of shoes a year (many sold to slave plantations of the south).
Two men's vests. One from a formal suit in patterned black silk with three covered black buttons. One in grey corded fabric with four shell buttons.
Three pair of stockings. Two pair in cotton, one pair white, one pair black. One pair black stockings, possibly men's in silk. White stockings have darning on toe.
Wool military dress coat and vest in fine wool. Vest is buff colored wool in 2/2 twill that has been fulled. Vest has 8 brass buttons (one is missing) in front closure, with 4 decorative brass buttons on pocket flaps. Back and lining of vest is cotton. Dress coat is of 2/2 twill fulled wool with trim in buff fulled 2/2 twill wool. Coat is lined with twill cotton, and shows signs of alteration (letting out). Coat front is embellished with 20 large brass buttons and closed with two heavy brass hooks and eyes. Sleeves are embellished with 3 brass buttons each. Seams machine sewed with some hand stitching on lining.
Civil War era woman's plaid shawl of single ply wool woven in a 2/2 twill. Twisted self fringe on three sides, fourth side has fringe missing. Reddish color of wool appears to be dyed with madder root. Greenish threads look yellowish under microscope. Dark thread looks like indigo under microscope,

Heavy linen white duster for wearing in a motor car. Stonewear button front closure. Neck tab. Inner collar lined with blue chambray fabric.
Woman's everyday quilted work bonnet in brown cotton, lined with undyed cotton. Stuffed with unspun cotton fiber. Handstitched throughout.
Woman's hat of black crepe lined with black silk. Originally had two ties of black grosgrain ribbon; now only one tie exists.
